Welcome to the Science on the edge website

This website supports the science on the edge podcast. Our series of podcasts covers topics as divers as genetic engineering, the CRISPR Cas9 gene editing technology (together with other gene editing tools such as retro-viruses, liposomes etc), stem cell research, neuroscience, food supplements (separating the facts from the marketing jargon) and even a little philosophy.

If you’re interested in science, with a definite skew towards the most cutting edge and controversial breakthroughs, then this is the podcast for you!

The site will also increasingly share and discuss links to science papers that push the boundaries of our knowledge. These include papers by the author. Such as:

Cell death: a review of the major forms of apoptosis, necrosis and autophagy

A review of the chemopreventative and chemotherapeutic properties of the phytochemicals berberine, resveratrol and curcumin, and their influence on cell death via the pathways of apoptosis and autophagy

A novel combined resveratrol/berberine phytochemotheraputic using the HePG2 cell line as a model for the treatment of hepatocarcinoma
